1 – Assemble a list of questions about your loan program

Make sure you bring a list of questions if you find that you don't entirely understand the pros and cons of all the different loan programs. It's hard to understand the distinctions between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my trusted lenders will help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of both.

2 – Determine when to lock

When you lock in the interest rate, the mortgage lender is guaranteed to keep to the interest rates for the loan – ordinarily at the time the loan application is submitted. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between application and at the time of closing. Those who decide to float believe the interest rates will plunge in the near future. 3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to lower your interest rate
